“Normally, during shows like these, I reach a point where I start to wonder how close we are to the end. I never checked my watch even once. I hung on to every word for the whole time, and each segment was as interesting and thought-provoking as the preceding.” -  Linda S., Educator

Meet the Artist

Julian is an actor, poet, writer, and theologian based in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

As an actor, his TV work includes “Girls,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!,” “Kevin Can Wait,” “Shades of Blue,” and the NBC limited series “The Slap” opposite Uma Thurman. His film work includes the A24 film You Hurt My Feelings. As a classical actor, he's trained under Ron Daniels (Honorary Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company), and performed with Classical Stage Company, Playwrights Horizons, and the Public Theater.

As a poet, he writes narrative poetry in dramatic verse, finding new perspectives on biblical characters to cultivate what Kierkegaard calls a "contemporaneous" experience with ancient wisdom. His poem "Mark of Cain” reimagines the tragedy of Cain and Abel, and was selected to open Church of the City's inaugural Creative Conference. The Well NYC commissioned two of his poems: "Princes Dressed in Sacks,” which reimagines the conversion of Barnabas, and "Through Alabaster Cloud,” which reimagines John’s baptism of Jesus.

As a writer, he writes for his Substack, True Myth, on aesthetics and philosophy as it relates to arts advocacy. He also co-founded the Arts Advisory Council for the Center for Faith & Work.

He lives in Park Slope with his wife of 14 years, Melody, and his three children, Evangeline, Asher, and Odelia.
